I wondered why. Is expanding your knowledge of books not a worthwhile aim in itself? Is there something wrong with challenging oneself intellectually just for the sake of it?

It's a fact of life that no matter WHAT you do, there's always someone ready to slag you off for it. Their opinions might be worth paying attention to, if they geve them as a fundraiser for charity! Your regulars enjoy your blog, and you enjoy your hobby, so just ignore the sad, spiteful comments of those who snipe from the safety of anonymity, and carry on reading.
